Innovative grids, renewable generation, and empowered consumers are here — and they shape our vision of a decarbonized, decentralized, and digitized world. We enable the energy world’s players to embark on a digital journey to create efficient and sustainable networks, deploy local production, and create value beyond the meter.
Smarter, greener grid management
When you are Italy’s largest power company and Europe’s second largest utility company for installed generation capacity, curbing energy waste and thinking green are top of mind. Such is the case with Enel, which operates in 40 countries worldwide and has around 95,000 MW of net installed capacity.
Using Schneider Electric’s advanced distribution management system (ADMS), Enel has been able to reduce energy loss by optimizing its existing network resources and operations. This streamlined energy system also decreases CO2 emissions. Just as important, it enables Enel to integrate renewable energy sources while improving power quality.
ADMS has also helped Enel with supply restoration and network reconfiguration. Over 110,000 secondary substations are equipped with this technology, enabling the network to heal itself within minutes of a power failure. Energy, cost, and time savings?
A triple win.
The fact that we were able to integrate Schneider Electric ADMS with our existing systems (in particular the SCADA system) has proven to be one of the best features yet.
Connected and more efficient grids
We help distribution utilities boost operational efficiency by reducing energy losses, outage durations, and operational costs. Smart grids now can be fully connected across substations and electrical lines. As a result, utility companies are empowered to capture and integrate massive amounts of energy data. Those data points unlock a broad variety of opportunities and benefits for utilities and their customers.
